The Haus des Hörens is once again a "Selected Landmark in the Land of Ideas"
Communication Acoustics Simulator (KAS) honoured as "Selected Place 2008"
The award was presented on 14 November 2008 by Doris Bünnemeyer, Head of the Investment and Finance Centre of German Bank Oldenburg.
The KAS is thus one of the winners of the nationwide innovation competition "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas".
Doris Bünnemeyer emphasised in her laudation: "The communication acoustics simulator stands for technical sophistication and shows not only hearing researchers what can be achieved in this country with sophisticated innovations. The KAS is a good example of the innovative spirit of German research and writes a chapter of success story for our future every day with its idea." Prof. Dr Dr Birger Kollmeier, spokesperson for the HörTech Center of Competence and physics professor at the University of Oldenburg, was delighted with the award: "We are very proud to have been selected as a Landmark in the Land of Ideas. The KAS is unique in its form and we are delighted to be able to present this location to the public," said Kollmeier. Around 1,500 places had entered their ideas in the "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" competition, which the "Germany - Land of Ideas" initiative has been organising together with Deutsche Bank since 2005 under the patronage of Federal President Horst Köhler. "Germany is a land of ideas that is shaping its future. We have committed citizens and politicians, innovative scientists and courageous entrepreneurs in all areas who contribute to a successful future with their efforts and encourage others to take advantage of opportunities," says Bünnemeyer.
