The Haus des Hörens in Oldenburg is inviting the people of Oldenburg to take part in a listening rally through the city centre on 14 and 15 August 2010 to mark its nomination as a "Landmark in the Land of Ideas".
There are many sounds to be heard in the city centre that you don't actually pay attention to.
The Haus des Hörens will acoustically transform eight locations in the city centre so that unusual sounds can be heard. Exciting prizes will be raffled off among the rally participants (including a family ticket for Heidepark Soltau).
A central activity stand will provide interesting information on all aspects of hearing, for example you can test how loud you can set your MP3 player.
The event will be rounded off on Sunday from 4.00 to 6.00 pm with a prize-giving ceremony and lots of surprises at The Haus des Hörens.
The Haus des Hörens would like to use this campaign to draw attention to the fact that good hearing is not a given for everyone - there are 15 million people with hearing loss in Germany.
