What does music change in the brain? Does music connect society? Are all people musical? These questions were the focus of this year's "Oldenburg Castle Talks" on 13 December at Oldenburg Castle. The event was organised by the EWE Foundation in co-operation with the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg and the university. "Does music make people?" was the theme.

Under the moderation of Maybrit Illner, the deputy general music director of the Hamburg State Opera, Karen Kamensek, hearing researcher Prof Dr Dr Birger Kollmeier, musicologist Prof Dr Melanie Unseld and Prof Dr Gottfried Schlaug from Harvard Medical School discussed the topic in front of around 240 guests. All those involved were able to speak very clearly about their predominantly scientific work.
