Successful DAGA and DGA

Successful DAGA and DGA 2014

From 10 to 15 March, the University of Oldenburg was buzzing with activity: two conferences on the topic of hearing took place almost simultaneously, and the results are impressive: the University of Oldenburg and all those involved in front of and behind the scenes (members of the university, Jade University, Hörtech and many more) can look back on sunny and successful days, both scientifically and organisationally.

The 40th German Annual Meeting on Acoustics (DAGA) invited around 1,200 registered participants to plenary lectures, oral and poster sessions and an industry exhibition on the Haarentor campus from 10 to 13 March 2014. Several awards were also presented during the conference: The Helmholtz Medal of the German Society for Acoustics was awarded to Prof Dr.-Ing. Michael Möser (Technische Universität Berlin) for his outstanding contributions to teaching and research in the field of technical acoustics. Dr Ercan Altinsoy (TU Dresden) received the Lothar Cremer Prize for Young Scientists for his innovative and pioneering work in the fields of multimodal interaction and product sound quality. The DEGA student awards for outstanding theses went to Christian Bloch for his bachelor's thesis "Design and evaluation of actively controlled lightweight structures under diffuse field excitation" (Technische Universität Berlin) and to Philipp Schmidt for his master's thesis "Improvements in Localisation of Planar Acoustic Holography" (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz). For the first time, prizes were also awarded for the best posters: the winners Janina Fels, Wiebke Heeren and Geske Linnéa Eberlei can look forward to receiving a small amount of financial support.

At the 17th Annual Conference of the German Society of Audiology (DGA), which took place on the Wechloy campus from 12 to 15 March 2014, almost 700 participants were able to find out about the latest research findings in the field of audiology in plenary lectures, structured sessions and tutorials. There was also an award ceremony for the best posters.
