FÖJ 2025/26

Lasse Kölling

Hello,
I'm Lasse Kölling, the FÖJ volunteer for the years 2025/2026.
During my time here, I've had lots of great experiences, including catching and ringing birds, maintaining and dismantling receiving stations and much more. In addition to working for the Migration Ecology WG, I was also able to gain experience in related working groups, for example in laboratory work in the Hydrogeology WG.
My main reason for applying for the position in the Migration Ecology WG was to gain an authentic insight into scientific work. I got enough of this in the working group. I particularly liked the fact that I was trusted to work independently and that questions were always readily answered.
I can recommend the FÖJ here if you want to pursue a varied scientific activity. You shouldn't be afraid of field or office work and have a wide range of interests, especially in birds and bird migration, of course.

You don't have to make coffee :D
