Short biography

Vlad Răzvan Baciu obtained a Doctorate in Music in Composition (2016) at the National Music University of Bucharest under the supervision of Prof Dr DHC Dan Dediu. He also completed his master's degree in orchestral conducting (2015) under the supervision of Maestro Horia Andreescu and his master's degree in composition (2013) under the supervision of Maestro Dan Dediu at the National Music University of Bucharest . At the age of 15, he was admitted to the Katerina Maska Conservatory in Athens, where he studied piano interpretation and graduated with the title of arista pampfisi. During his studies he received numerous national and international scholarships in Germany, the Netherlands, Estonia, Greece and Bulgaria. He was recently awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship at Indiana University, USA.

He has conducted the National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Moldova from Kishinau, the Orchestra and Big Band of the University of Oldenburg in Germany, the Orchestra of the National Music University of Bucharest, the ensemble SonoMania, the choir HEART-CORE and the orchestra OXIGEN , which Vlad R. Baciu founded himself. On the occasion of the Olympic Games in Greece, he prepared and conducted the AMADEUS Chamber Choir. The concert was broadcast by the BBC. His works were performed by young virtuosos and renowned ensembles, including the Bacău Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Craiova Philharmonic Choir, the Astra Choir, Ensemble Profil, Ensemble SonoMania, Ensemble Fractales, etc.

His work CARMIN for chamber orchestra was included in the music archive of the Romanian Radio. His symphonic lament THE CRY OF THE KOGAIONON for big band and symphonic orchestra, in memory of King Michael I of Romania, was awarded 1st prize at the International Composition Competition of the University of Oldenburg. He composed the anthem of the Academy of Economic Sciences Bucharest. He has taken part in national and international competitions for composition, piano and painting, where he has received numerous awards and prizes. Since 2010, he has been Chair of the cultural association HEART-CORE, which is involved in various cultural projects focussing on the promotion of contemporary music.
