New edition of the Oldenburg School

The "Oldenburg School for the Social Sciences and the Humanities" is entering its second round: from 18 to 29 September, four of the university's Schools are once again inviting Master's students, doctoral candidates and postdocs in the humanities and social sciences as well as interested members of the public to workshops, lectures, summer schools and masterclasses. The varied programme in the Schlaues Haus (Schlossplatz 16) offers a whole series of public events. Registration is now open. Most events have a limited number of participants and may fill up quickly. Under the umbrella of the Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences (3GO), the Oldenburg School is once again bringing together a wide range of programmes from various disciplines this year. The doctoral programmes "Cultures of Participation" and "Border Formations in Migration Society" are involved. The DFG Research Training Group "Self-Formations" and the Start-up and Innovation Centre (GIZ) in co-operation with the Junior Professorship for Female Entrepreneurship are also taking part. The public events include the opening lecture by Berlin migration and integration researcher Dr Serhat Karakayali on the masterclass "Border. Migration and Critique" on Tuesday, 19 September at 18:00. On Monday, 25 September, Prof. Dr Beate Ochsner, literary scholar at the University of Konstanz, will give a public keynote lecture entitled "(Important) Images or Audiovisual Production of Obesity" at 11.00 am. At 18:15 on Tuesday, 26 September, there will be an all-day event entitled: "Wenn Gott mitspielt. God as an actor in the utterances of others", there will be an evening lecture with Dr Marcus Held. The theologian from Mainz will be asking the question "Is there nothing left for us to do but remain silent?" and will be pointing out forms of articulation of religion in the secular world, in which reason is increasingly taking precedence over religion.
