Bachelor thesis
Bachelor thesis
Bachelor thesis in the subject Dutch Studies
From the subject-specific annex BA Dutch Studies, point 6:
(1) In addition to linguistics and literary studies, subject-specific didactic and translation theory issues are also possible. The accompanying course is worth 3 CP and the Bachelor's thesis 12 CP.
(2) Questions from the areas of the modules (AM7-AM10) in accordance with point 5, focus 3, as well as the orientation of the Bachelor's thesis to seminars outside Dutch Studies require the approval of the Seminar Council, which decides on the basis of a reasoned proposal and the declaration of consent from cooperating lecturers.
The Bachelor's thesis is written in the semester in which a seminar (3KP) in the chosen discipline (linguistics or literature) is attended. In principle, all seminars offered in the Master's modules are suitable. The topic of the Bachelor's thesis can be based on the topic of the seminar. However, other questions or a different topic can also be chosen, always in consultation with the module coordinators.
The Bachelor's thesis can be written in both the winter and summer semesters. The student should make arrangements with the lecturer about the topic/question of the BA thesis before the beginning of the 5th week of the semester. A second assessor is also consulted. The student should then officially register with the Examinations Office.
Approximately in the 7th week of the semester, the planned BA thesis, the topic and research question, and the background should be briefly presented in the seminar (in consultation with the lecturer). A preliminary outline is also included.
Approximately in the 12th week of the semester , a short presentation (approx. 10 minutes) is given in the seminar on the progress of the work.
The paper must be submitted to the Examinations Office no later than 2 weeks after the end of the course period.
The 3 CP of the seminar consist of: 1 CP attendance, 0.5 CP presentation of the BA thesis, 1.5 CP preparation
Length of the thesis: 30-40 pages.
The Examinations Office will prepare an information sheet for the title page, which will be handed out to students when the topic of the BA thesis is officially issued. It also regulates things such as font size, spacing, etc.
The thesis is usually written in Dutch.
