The aim is to establish a comprehensive database to improve the treatment of newborns with intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus.
For this purpose, an overview of the current intervention options for newborns with IVH is to be compiled. The treatment of the newborns will be carried out according to the respective standards of the participating hospitals. In particular, neuroendoscopic lavage will be compared with the more established methods.
Neurondoscopic lavage is a surgical treatment option for newborns with IVH and progressive posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus. Blood clots are aspirated from the ventricles under endoscopic guidance and the ventricles are lavaged with lactate-free Ringer's solution until the lavage appears clear.
The study was started in 2018 and will run for 7-10 years depending on the inclusion rate.
