University Clinic for Neurology

The University Clinic for Neurology at the Evangelical Hospital Oldenburg treats all neurological diseases of the nervous system and musculature. A specialised stroke unit is available for the rapid treatment of stroke patients, while a neurological/internal intensive care unit is available for patients with severe and highly complex diseases. Outpatient care is provided in the neurology outpatient clinic at the Medical Care Centre (MEVO).

The clinic focuses in particular on stroke medicine, diseases of the blood vessels supplying the brain, inflammatory brain diseases of the nervous system such as multiple sclerosis, neurological intensive care, movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease as well as muscle and nerve diseases.

The Department of Neurology also works in interdisciplinary collaboration with doctors and researchers from other clinics at the Evangelical Hospital Oldenburg, the Pius Hospital Oldenburg, the Oldenburg Clinical Centre and the Karl Jaspers Clinic in Bad Zwischenahn.

Represented in the MWK-funded "TransVer" project

We are part of the "Digital transformation of healthcare in the region (TransVer)" project, which is funded by the state of Lower Saxony as part of the zukunft.niedersachsen programme.

The project provides scientific support for the transformation process of clinics into digitalised regional healthcare centres. The aim is to develop new medical and technical solutions that enable attractive, modern care close to home and address the needs of the population. This also includes the question of how hospital sites can be sensibly repurposed - for example with digital assistance systems for new local care services.
