Agata Rostran Largaespada and Ximena Guardia Muguruza work on the same research team at Reykjavik University. They have known each other since 2021 and are now focusing on building their company, VarmaMAX, which offers engineering services to geothermal power plant operators to maximise the efficiency and longevity of geothermal energy assets.
VarmaMAX recently received 20 million ISK from the Sproti Grant of the Technology Development Fund (Tækniþróunarsjóður) which will allow them to further develop and strengthen the business as well as continue their research efforts in cooperation with Landsvirkjun and Reykjavik University
