Embedded Systems I
The course begins with an overview of embedded systems and the design of these systems. Digital signal processing plays a particularly important role in the telecommunications and multimedia sector. For this reason, the basics and some algorithms of digital signal processing (e.g. MPEG method) are then presented. The principles of control and regulation are fundamental for traffic engineering applications, the basics of which are also presented. The specification of embedded systems and the properties of the languages used for this purpose are then discussed. Data flow-oriented graphical modelling languages, such as Simulink, together with control flow-oriented graphical specifications using state charts, which are presented in detail here, offer one possibility for specifying such systems. The module concludes with a treatment of possible architectures and the communication interface in embedded systems.
