As part of the subject Master's degree programme in Sport Science, a specialisation module must be taken in the 3rd semester. The selection includes the specialisations "Talent in Sport" and "Social Heterogeneity in Sport" (compulsory elective). Social heterogeneity in sport (module spo875)
Objectives and competences
Students acquire knowledge about how, in which media forms, under which conditions and with which effects social differentiations and inequalities (male/female, performance/non-performance, healthy/sick, normal/abnormal, native/immigrant, etc.) appear, are reproduced and created in sport. Students acquire knowledge about how differentiated and individualised learning, exercise and training processes are developed and implemented.

- Examination of concepts of human differentiation such as class, stratum, milieu, gender, etc.
- Examination of the media forms and practices of human differentiation in sport and sport-related areas
- Significance of the body in these processes
- Conception and evaluation of target group-related or sport-specific training programmes and exercise offers
- Importance of psycho-social and motor development and learning processes across the lifespan
Talent in sport (module spo885)
Objectives and competences
Students acquire knowledge about the historical and social emergence and dissemination of the concept of talent, its social functions and its subjectivising effects. They acquire the competence to analyse and critically reflect on talent discourses and practices of talent construction, diagnosis and promotion.
Students acquire knowledge of the theoretical content of sport-specific and non-specific procedures, models and concepts in organised sport for the identification and development of athletic talent. They acquire the competence to implement talent models and to further develop them in a theory- and demand-orientated manner.

- Historical-sociological examination of discourses and practices of talent construction, diagnosis and promotion in sport and related areas
- Examination of the practical problems of talent identification, screening and development from an interdisciplinary perspective using case studies
- Analysing and reflecting on constitutive boundary conditions and factors that can influence long-term psychological, social and physical development
