Master of Education
Degree programmes with different teaching specialisations are offered with the professional goal of becoming a teacher. The Master's degree programmes for primary, secondary and intermediate schools, grammar schools, special education and Business Education comprise four semesters. The descriptions on the following pages represent the current examination regulations as of the winter semester 16/17.
Primary / secondary and intermediate school
The subject of physical education plays a central educational role in the canon of subjects taught at primary, lower secondary and secondary modern schools (GHR) through its integrative teaching of motor, cognitive and social skills. The Master's degree programme makes a central contribution to the scientifically sound planning, implementation and evaluation of physical education by translating pedagogical, specialised and didactic knowledge into topic- and target group-specific plans, implementing these plans in teaching practice and systematically evaluating them. Cross-cutting topics such as inclusion and dealing with heterogeneity, digitalisation and democracy education are also addressed.
Grammar school
The degree programme opens the way to the teaching profession at grammar schools in the subject of sport. Sport is a compulsory subject at schools. It pursues independent educational goals that lie in the unity of motor, cognitive and social knowledge and skills. The subject prepares students to participate independently, competently and critically in and help shape the culture of sport.
Special education
Physical education lessons in the field of special needs education should focus in particular on the connection between personal development, movement, perception and experience.
The subject prepares students to participate independently, competently and critically in and help shape the culture of sport.
It pursues independent educational goals that lie in the unity of motor, cognitive and social knowledge and skills. Special tasks arise from the particularities of the student body. They interact with their classmates, particularly physically, and implicitly learn elementary rules of group behaviour. For pupils with physical or mental disabilities or behavioural problems, playing sports together improves their access to school in general and the primarily physical interaction offers special opportunities for support. School sport improves the general learning ability and receptiveness of all pupils.
Business Education
The degree programme opens the way to a teaching career at vocational schools in the subject of sport. Sport is a compulsory subject at schools and there is a constant need for teachers, especially in the coming years. Graduates of previous years have entered the traineeship and the teaching profession without any bottlenecks, and difficulties are not to be expected.
Internship (Master of Education)
Information on internships in the Master of Education can be found on the Didactic Centre (DiZ) website. In the Master of Education Gymnasium, students choose whether they would like to complete the specialised internship or the research and development internship in sports science, so that both subjects are covered with an internship component. Both internships are prepared, supervised and evaluated in a course. Questions regarding the internships in Sports Science can be clarified with the respective contact persons.
