As a "historical memory", the University Archives documents the development of the University of Oldenburg (and its predecessor institutions) in all its facets using a wide variety of documents and other media formats (photo, video, audio). The blog offers an insight into the diverse tasks and work of the archive, presents new holdings or special archive items and provides articles on relevant topics in Oldenburg's university history.

The service is aimed at members of the University of Oldenburg, the general specialist public and anyone else interested in the work and development of the University Archive and the historical development of the University. The blog is written by archive staff, but guest contributions are also welcome.

The blog was technically implemented and populated with initial contributions by eleven students on the BA degree programmes in Information Management and Medical Information Management at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, with whom the University Archives 2023 cooperated as part of a project seminar.
