Utilisation
The University Archives Oldenburg is a public institution. It is used for research, teaching and study at the university, its administration and other scientific work.
Access is available to anyone interested by prior arrangement. As a rule, use is made by inspecting the archive documents, provided there are no legal reasons to the contrary. The archive provides written information to a limited extent. Use is free of charge for members of the University and for academic research and is regulated in the User Regulations for the Lower Saxony State Archives, insofar as they are applicable to the University Archives.
The archival materials identified can be used after submitting a completed application form and making an appointment in the library.
You can download the proposal here: Application form (docx)
The data protection information for the processing of your personal data in the University Archives can be found here: Data protection information
Access to more recent files is restricted by the protection periods stipulated in the Lower Saxony Archive Act. This applies in particular to personal files. These protection periods can be shortened in individual cases upon written proposal(Schutzfristenverkürzung.pdf). The decision on this is made by the Vice President for Administration and Finance of the University of Oldenburg.
