The University Archives are currently under construction. Catalogued holdings can already be searched in Arcinsys, the archive information system for Lower Saxony and Bremen.
The documents can be viewed by prior appointment, subject to protection and embargo periods.

Collection items
In addition to files, the University Archives accepts supplementary documentation such as the estates of professors, photographs, pamphlets, newspaper cuttings, posters and correspondence. In addition, there are other documents from third parties, insofar as they document the history of the University of Oldenburg or its predecessor institutions and can be used for academic research.
Leaflet collection
The University Archives has an extensive collection of flyers from the period 1974 to 1998, which are summarised in individual volumes as special contemporary documents on Oldenburg's (university) culture and politics and are available for research. Thematically, the flyers cover the developments of various university political groups as well as advertising for cultural and information events at the university and in Oldenburg. The collection was transferred from the BIS to the University Archive in 2013.
