Project: Grassland biotope network
Against the background of the decline in endangered species due to the increasing isolation of biotopes in intensively used agricultural areas on the one hand and the strong pressure on agricultural land on the other, this project aims to develop new ways to enable a biotope network. Where possible, existing nature conservation areas are to be utilised and used as donor areas for the creation or development of stepping stones and corridors. The aim of the project is to establish a biotope network in grassland with a focus on the three target species groups of vascular plants, butterflies and grasshoppers. The project is to be implemented in co-operation with stakeholders from agriculture, nature conservation, science and the relevant authorities. A key focus is on the inclusion of linear landscape elements such as dykes, dams, water and roadside verges and forest edges.
Project partners:
- University of Oldenburg (UO)
- Grassland Centre Lower Saxony/Bremen e.V. (GLZ)
- Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture (LWK)
- Oldenburger Land Nature Conservation Association (NABU)
Financing: German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU)
Duration: 01.10.2017 until 30.01.2021
