Project management in practice

Structured to project success

The module consists of two parts. In the first, the theoretical foundations are developed, while in the second, what has been learnt is put into practice in a real-life project. The basic part focuses on project work, project management and portfolio management in the context of corporate management. The focus then shifts to how you define and prepare projects.

You will learn how to analyse the project environment and set clear objectives. You will learn which planning steps are useful for project work and which process model is suitable for a particular project. Agile development is one of the topics covered.

The module will show you ways of structuring, managing processes and deadlines as well as resource and cost planning. You will learn to observe social structures and organise teamwork. Special communication situations are also addressed. At the end of part one, you will know which criteria need to be considered for a successful project.

You will apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical project in the second part of the module. You can bring in specific topics from your academic appointment. You will work together in groups to plan and implement the respective project. After implementation, the groups present a reflective description of the project progression.
