Project: State Centre LBB-MiPäd/Pädagogik-Kolleg
"Education and counselling for highly qualified migrants with an educational focus" in the Lower Saxony/Bremen region
The objective of establishing a state office for educational counselling is being carried out by the Center for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies (CMC) in co-operation with the Center for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg.
The "Pädagogik-Kolleg - Modell für ein vernetztes Weiterbildungs- und Beratungsprogramm" (2024-2027), funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) as part of the "Profi Plus Programme" of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), is to be established in the long term as an educational counselling centre for highly qualified migrants with a pedagogical educational orientation (LBB-MiPäd). Co-funding from the European Union from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF, current funding period July 2025-June 2026) enables the project to be integrated into the overall project "Contact Studies: Recognition and Pedagogical Competence in the Migration Society".
Who is the project aimed at?
The project is aimed at international academics who have a degree with a pedagogical focus and/or professional experience in the fields of education and social work.
Contents of the project
It consists of two subject-related adaptation training programmes, each of which systematically integrates offers to increase employability as well as job-related support services in line with requirements. The project also includes a central educational counselling centre for the target group mentioned.
Supplementary programme
"Fundamentals of the welfare state, social and family law"
→ 2 modules in 152 teaching hours + 28 teaching hours of internship supervision
→ 18 credit points (ECTS)
→ Degree: University certificate
Aim of the two training programmes
The two training courses are intended to make it easier for international graduates to enter or remain in relevant pedagogical areas of the German labour market with the appropriate qualifications.
The aim is to impart subject-related, interdisciplinary and linguistic competences, skills and abilities - including through a 200-hour internship in a pedagogical institution and job application and career preparation coaching - and to establish contact with the world of work.
Graduation
Upon successful completion of the contact study programme and the supplementary programme, graduates receive a certificate from the University of Oldenburg. The university certificate makes the competences and qualifications gained comprehensible for German social work and education providers as well as for German universities and authorities. The aim is to have the achievements recognised or credited towards professional recognition or towards a degree in social work or childhood education.
