Safety-Security-Interaction

Welcome to the Safety-Security-Interaction Group!

The Safety-Security-Interaction group is concerned with the development of theoretically sound technologies for maintaining the security of IT systems in the context of safety-critical systems and the Internet of Things. The main emphasis lies on developing security solutions tailored to the context-specific conditions in safety-critical systems, thereby giving special importance to studying the interaction between the security and the safety of the systems to be protected.

Our approach to extract a cryptographic secret key from WiFi-signals got accepted at ISPEC 2023!

Our paper "LocKey: Location-based Key Extraction from the WiFi Environment in the User’s Vicinity" got accepted at ISPEC 2023! In the paper, we describe an approach to reliably extract a location-based cryptographic key from the WiFi signals in a user’s immediate vicinity. The approach is very lightweight and does not require any user interaction. It can therefore be used in various application domains, for example, to extract a location-based secret key, which can be used to make known password-based authentication methods more secure.
