Safety-Security-Interaction

Welcome to the Safety-Security-Interaction Group!

The Safety-Security-Interaction group is concerned with the development of theoretically sound technologies for maintaining the security of IT systems in the context of safety-critical systems and the Internet of Things. The main emphasis lies on developing security solutions tailored to the context-specific conditions in safety-critical systems, thereby giving special importance to studying the interaction between the security and the safety of the systems to be protected.

Our multiplication-free approach for faster biometric recognition under encryption got accepted at the top conference IEEE IJCB 2022!

Our paper „Multiplication-Free Biometric Recognition for Faster Processing under Encryption” got accepted at the top conference IEEE IJCB 2022! In the paper, we describe a novel approach to speed up the execution of biometric recognition under homomorphic encryption. The use of homomorphic encryption protects the biometric data before, during, and after the recognition process. Concretely, we developed a biometric recognition system that works without any multiplication operation, which makes it particularly suitable to be used under homomorphic encryption as multiplication operations are very expensive operations to perform with the common homomorphic encryption schemes.
