Safety-Security-Interaction

Welcome to the Safety-Security-Interaction Group!

The Safety-Security-Interaction group is concerned with the development of theoretically sound technologies for maintaining the security of IT systems in the context of safety-critical systems and the Internet of Things. The main emphasis lies on developing security solutions tailored to the context-specific conditions in safety-critical systems, thereby giving special importance to studying the interaction between the security and the safety of the systems to be protected.

Two articles at ACNS 2022!

Two attacks (with countermeasures) accepted at ACNS 2022: one regarding searchable encryption schemes and one regarding industrial control systems.

Two attacks (with countermeasures) got accepted at ACNS 2022, the 20th International Conference on Applied Cryptography and Network Security!

The first attack concerns secure conjunctive keyword search schemes. Those are encryption schemes that allow for searching on encrypted data. We specifically looked at schemes that allow for conjunctive keyword search queries.

The second attack concerns industrial control systems. We show how an attacker with limited knowledge on the targeted system can automatically identify sensors that, through targeted manipulation with a single try, can lead to a complete shutdown of the entire system.
