Doctorates

Depending on the focus of the dissertation, it is possible to complete a doctorate at the Department of Computing Science with the title Dr. rer.nat. or Dr.-Ing.

Guidelines for the organisation of the colloquium

The internal colloquium is a formal part of your PhD programme in the Department of Computing Science. Before submitting your thesis, you will give a 45-minute public presentation of the results you have achieved so far, followed by a question-and-answer session and a discussion with the audience.

Requirements:

  • The colloquia always take place on Mondays at 4.00 pm / 4.15 pm in room OFFIS F02; this room is reserved for this purpose throughout the year. Should a different date be planned, you must organise a room yourself.
  • For alternative dates, please ensure in advance that there are no clashes; ideally, avoid scheduling other meetings on Mondays, as the regular colloquium takes place on that day.
  • Discuss possible dates with your supervisors and submit your request in good time via
  • Three weeks in advance, please send an abstract (approx. ½–¾ of an A4 page as a copyable Word DOCX file – please do not simply send the text by email or in any other file format!), the title of the presentation, the language of the presentation and the name of your supervisor to .   • A draft of the invitation will be sent to you in advance for approval.
  • If the presentation is to be held in a hybrid format or exclusively online, please ensure that you set up a separate BBB room and provide the link.
