MakingLab

The MakingLab offers students a wide range of opportunities to creatively realise projects in the fields of physical computing and embedded systems as part of their courses and beyond. Digital manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting as well as a wide selection of materials, sensors, actuators and microcontrollers are available for the phases from prototype development to the finished product.

Equipment

The MakingLab has several Prusa 3D printers and a laser cutter. The following materials are available for working with these devices:

  • PLA
  • PEGT
  • acrylic
  • wood
  • cardboard
  • Felt
  • leather

Imprints on clothing and other fabrics can be realised with the help of our plotterand ironing press. We have different coloured foils available for this purpose,

In the Making Lab there are many devices for working with hardware, such as soldering stations, multimeters or our oscilloscope, so that with the wide range of

  • microcontrollers (ESP8266, ESP32, Raspberry PI Pico, ...) and microcomputers (Raspberry PI, ...)
  • Sensors (temperature, humidity, CO₂, soil moisture, movement, reverberation, volume, distance, ...)
  • actuators (servos, motors, LEDs, loudspeakers, ...)

and create your own circuit boards and systems.

Imprints on garments and other fabrics can be realised with the help of our plotterand ironing press. We have different coloured foils available for this purpose.
