Cock’s Brain – Freshly Tapped Knowledge
Once a year, at ‘Hirn vom Hahn – Wissen frisch gezapft’, you can get to know people who’ve made discovery their profession in cosy Oldenburg pubs. Instead of sitting in boring lecture theatres, scientists chat here between the bar and the bar stools about their exciting day-to-day work and their research.
The varied topics show that science is anything but dry and dusty, and that without its findings, the world would be a very different place. With a drink in hand, you can learn new things, ask questions and join in the discussion. A pub night with a difference!
Two talks will take place in each pub. In between, there’ll be plenty of time to pop over to one of the other participating pubs for the second talk.
‘Hirn vom Hahn – Wissen frisch gezapft’ is organised by the Oldenburg Network for Science Communication (OLWIK) and is an event hosted by The Smart House Oldenburg.
Speakers wanted!
The pub event "Hirn vom Hahn - Wissen frisch gezapft" is just the thing for anyone who has always wanted to present their research in a pub and talk directly to the guests there.
In addition to a great moderated pub evening, we offer our speakers a workshop on communicating their own research and a theatre pedagogy workshop. Our previous speakers have found both workshops very helpful in preparing for the evening.
