Water, heat and energy in a leisure pool. Olantis Huntebad, Oldenburg

OLantis offers two field trips:

  • Energy Detectives at OLantis – Tracking Down Heat
    (Year 4 General Studies, PE)
Pupils are introduced to the concepts of heat and energy and made aware of water and energy consumption at the swimming pool and at home. Working in small groups at various stations, they measure the temperature of the water and air at different locations in the swimming pool, determine the amount of water used whilst showering, and carry out the ‘swimming trunks experiment’. Finally, they will explore ways to save energy, and the topics of energy generation and the properties of heat will be discussed (duration approx. 4 hours).
