UniChoir
After the forced break due to Corona, the UniChor has restarted in the winter semester 21/22 under the direction of Silja Stegemeier.
The choir's programme is a colourful mixture of smaller works from different eras, cultures and genres. Variety is part of the concept, so that all participants can find special treats or explore new musical worlds.
As rehearsals only take place during term time, new singers are very welcome at the beginning of term. The choir line-up changes from semester to semester. There are small public concerts at the end of the semester. Regular attendance at rehearsals is therefore a basic requirement for meaningful choir work. In the few weeks of a semester, a choir group should be formed that brings together singers with very different abilities and previous experience to form a choir. This is only possible in the short time available if a constant group works together. Each member is important and contributes to the overall sound with his/her voice and personality. The main aim of rehearsals is to enjoy creating music together. Basic vocal technique work is part of the choir rehearsals.
After the rehearsal, the singers like to go to a pub together.
All members of the University of Oldenburg and external members are welcome to join in. Participation is free of charge. Knowledge of music is helpful but not a prerequisite. We also welcome previous experience in choral singing, but it is also possible to experience the fun of singing together for the first time. An audition is not required.
Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 18:15 to 19:45 in the assembly hall, building A11.
