Sophie Drinker Institute
Sophie Drinker Institute
The Sophie Drinker Institute (non-profit organisation) has existed as an independent research institute since 2002. From 2003 to 2012 it was linked to the University of Oldenburg by a co-operation agreement.
The library currently contains 2800 items: Books, grades, sound recordings, films, historical original prints, autographs and other materials on musicological women's and gender studies. In addition, there is a collection of approximately 5000 articles, which can also be used as a bibliography via the Internet.
Since the founding of the Institute, numerous students have had the opportunity to participate in research and publications of the Sophie Drinker Institute, especially in the development of the "Lexikon Europäische Instrumentalistinnen des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts", but also with publications in our series. We regularly employ students as student assistants. Applications are possible at any time.
Institute staff (Prof. Dr. Freia Hoffmann, PD Dr. Kadja Grönke, Volker Timmermann) have examination entitlement for the relevant degree programmes (musicology, music education, gender studies) at the University of Oldenburg.
