Experience marine research
As a permanent measuring station, the yellow structure towers high out of the North Sea off Spiekeroog. As a replica, the yellow container of the Institute of Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) stands on solid ground. Its interior provides space for a permanent poster and media exhibition on exciting topics relating to marine research.
Children are invited to take part in hands-on experiments led by students. Young visitors will also receive the "My mobile coastal laboratory" experiment set free of charge, which the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is using to get young people interested in marine research. The set includes a landing net, beaker magnifying glass and the youth magazine "forscher ahoi". A brand new quartet game on the topic of "Habitats of the seas and oceans", which was also developed by the BMBF in the Science Year 2016*2017 - Seas and Oceans, is also available free of charge in the container.
