In bright sunshine, employees from the Marine Sensor Systems working group presented the EU project Citclops on the Schlachte in Bremen on 18 May. This was the venue for the public day on "European Maritime Day", which is celebrated every year on 20 May.

The "research mile" on the Weser gave citizens an insight into the work of various marine research institutes and research vessels. In a citizen science area, the ICBM working group, together with the Ocean Sampling Day (OSD) Citclops and OSD team, provided information about smartphone apps and measurements for citizens. The OSD team had kindly and unbureaucratically given the ICBM working group the opportunity to present another citizen participation project, Citclops. The members of the working group were delighted with the lively interest shown by visitors.

On 19 and 20 May, the public day was followed by a conference and workshops on European Maritime Day. Here, the future of the seas, blue growth and its limits were discussed. - The next European Maritime Day will take place next year in Piraeus, Greece.
