Oldenburg. Scientists from the ICBM and the Warnemünde Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW) met in Oldenburg on 15 and 16 January. The IOW is a member of the Leibniz Association and has been a co-operation partner of the ICBM in numerous bilateral co-operation projects for many years. Both Institutes work on an interdisciplinary basis and specialise in coastal research.

During the current meeting, around 20 scientists informed themselves about current results and explored joint research interests and the potential for strategic co-operation. During the discussions led by the institute directors Prof Dr Ulrich Bathmann (IOW) and Prof Dr Helmut Hillebrand (ICBM), the scientists identified several joint fields of action. In future, methods will be harmonised in smaller groups and projects will be applied for in an even more targeted manner.
