Research and work focus
Prof Dr Alexander Golland's research focuses on fundamental questions of data protection law, such as the material and geographical scope of application, responsibility, the lawfulness of data processing and international data transfers. In particular, he analyses the legal requirements and their impact on innovative technologies such as connected cars, smart home devices and artificial intelligence. He also researches telemedia law and IT security law as well as the regulation of digital services and digital platforms.
He is a speaker at conferences and the editor and author of numerous publications on German and European data protection law. In 2021, Alexander Golland was appointed as an expert for the Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG) by the Economic Committee of the German Bundestag.
