Almost 50 contributors from a total of 11 countries will present current research from the broad field of popular music studies. Practices of filtering, selecting and amplifying - illustrated by the metaphor of the noise gate - will be examined from different perspectives and thematic references. We are very happy to have received so many contributions on the topic and hope that the selection is convincing.
