Hunger, Diane

Description of the

The New Music scene in the USA differs from the German New Music scene in many ways. Not only do other composers take centre stage, but there are also other funding and concert formats. Festivals are often organised by composers and often take place at universities. In my lecture I will discuss these differences and introduce some of my favourite composers. For the saxophone - a very young instrument (invented in 1840/41) - very interesting compositions are written every year in a wide variety of styles. Nevertheless, the versatile saxophone is still an underestimated instrument in the German classical music world.
