C. René Hirschfeld
1965 born in Wernigerode (Saxony-Anhalt), first violin lessons at the age of 5 at the local music school, first compositions at the age of 9, later piano lessons.
1981-81 began studying violin as a main subject at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar 1982-87 studied composition (with U. Zimmermann and W. Krätzschmar) and violin at the Carl-Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden;
1987 exams and Diplom as a violinist and composer; 1987-89 continued composition studies as a master student; at the same time self-taught studies in dance and dance theory
Weber Prize of the Dresden Music Festival 1984, Eisler Prize 1986, Mendelssohn Scholarship 1988/89, Göttingen Composition Prize for Guitar 2000

1991 première of Sonett VII - Concerto for piano and chamber orchestra conducted by the composer, Dresden Music Festival
In the same year première of the chamber opera Bianca at the Salzburg Festival since then performances in almost all of Europe, Asia, Latin America and the USA
2005 Premiere of the double concerto "Wandlungen V" for violin, cello and orchestra at the ceremony in Magdeburg Cathedral on the occasion of the awarding of the Kaiser Otto Prize to former Federal President Dr Richard von Weizäcker
2021/22 Composer in Residence at the Gesellschaftshaus - Haus für Musik der Landeshauptstadt Magdeburg
