Ison and other forms of polyphony in Romanian music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The 10th ZwischenZeiten Symposium of the University of Oldenburg in co-operation with the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) Delmenhorst will continue and deepen the examination of the topic of different forms of polyphony in Europe.

The aim of the conference is to examine different forms of polyphony in Romanian music in the context of contemporary European music, thus continuing the work of the 2014 symposium on the Ison. These forms of polyphony originate from a musical thinking that initially seems incompatible with the musical thinking of the West and its forms of polyphony, but ultimately shows many more correspondences than assumed.
