Welcome!

The Energy Technology group at the University of Oldenburg focuses on applied transdisciplinary research, targeting the third mission of the university for an appropriate implementation of RE systems in diverse contexts. Building on the use and development of open tools for energy modelling and data acquisition and monitoring, we focus on the design of participatory, digitally supported exchange formats to facilitate effective cooperation with stakeholders from both within and outside academia.
The group’s work combines inter- and transdisciplinary and flexible educational formats for the energy sector, targeting both academic and professional audiences, developing and implementing innovative, student-centered teaching and learning concepts, with a strong emphasis on energy system analysis. A core element of their approach is transdisciplinary communication, which is reflected in close collaboration with external partners and the systematic inclusion of real-world, practice-oriented challenges in teaching.

We play a leading role in the organization of two well-established international master programmes with a strong focus on Renewable Energy (RE). The programmes offer competences in a broad range of RE technologies, including solar and wind energy, storage technologies, grid integration of RE as well as the relationship between energy and society.
Innovative teaching approaches, a thorough solid base on principles and operation of RE Systems and their components as well as a strong alumni network are characteristic features of them. Both programmes are accredited by ASIIN. Graduates of both programmes benefit greatly from the well established professional network and usually find relevant employment in the RE sector easily.
