Research strand 3: The experiences of people with endometriosis in medical rehabilitation
Research strand 3: The experiences of people with endometriosis in medical rehabilitation
Aim and research question
The primary aim of this sub-project, which forms part of a Master’s thesis, is to examine the experiences of people living with endometriosis in accessing medical rehabilitation services and during the rehabilitation process:
What expectations, needs and pre-existing challenges do people living with endometriosis have when they begin the process of applying for medical rehabilitation?
How do they experience the process of accessing rehabilitation, particularly with regard to applying for, being granted or being refused rehabilitation?
What experiences do they have during the rehabilitation process?
What barriers and challenges arise in accessing rehabilitation and during the course of rehabilitation?
To answer these questions, qualitative interviews will be conducted with those affected. The interviews will be recorded, transcribed and subsequently analysed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis according to Braun and Clarke [1]. The results will be presented and discussed as part of the Master’s thesis.
Furthermore, the findings will be incorporated into a planned academic publication within the LEAH project and will serve as the basis for a proposal for external funding for an in-depth study on the topic of medical rehabilitation for endometriosis.
To take part in the interviews
We are inviting people who have undergone at least one course of medical rehabilitation (outpatient or inpatient) for endometriosis in the last five years to take part in interviews. The interviews will take place online or in person (at the University of Oldenburg), depending on the participants’ preference, and will last approximately 45–60 minutes. If you would like to share the study with others, you can find a detailed leaflet a detailed leaflet.
Location: Online or in person
Interviewer: Regina Rauch (Master’s student in Healthcare Research)
Important:
- You decide for yourself which experiences and views you would like to share.
- You can pause or stop the interview at any time – without any consequences.
