Isabella Sasso successfully defended her doctoral thesis on 18 November 2025 as the first fellow of the SPARK doctoral programme.

With her dissertation on "School absenteeism as a processual loss of self-efficacy - a grounded theory on the perspective of autistic students", which was supervised by Teresa Sansour and Tanja Jungmann, Isabella has made an important contribution to the experience of school absenteeism from the perspective of students on the autism spectrum.
