With the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife), students can study at universities in the relevant specialisation.
Advanced technical college entrance qualification at specialised secondary schools (FOS)
The Fachhochschulreife is usually acquired at Fachoberschulen (FOS) with a specific specialisation. There are also other forms, such as the so-called general Fachhochschulreife. It consists of an academic part and a practical part. The practical part determines which specialisation can be studied at university.
In a two-subject Bachelor's degree programme, the first subject is linked to the corresponding subject area. This mainly applies to degree programmes with the aim of becoming a teacher.
