Workshop: "Very Large Business Applications" (VLBA12)

as part of the

Braunschweig, Germany - 16.09.-21.09.2012

Description of the

By definition, VLBAs are company-wide operational and inter-company information systems. They support the execution of business processes along the value chain and are not limited to individual company boundaries. Examples of VLBA are ERP systems, systems for Computer Integrated Manufacturing and inter-company information systems, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Supply Chain Management (SCM). From a technical point of view, these systems are distributed, federated and integrated business application systems. The implementation is based on modern architecture concepts, such as service-oriented architectures (SOA), component frameworks, peer-to-peer networks, cloud computing, grid architectures or even mediators. Very large business applications are characterised by their strategic importance, both for individual companies and for corporate networks. They are so large that they extend across a business unit or company, both technically and in terms of functionality or range of functions.

The workshop "Very Large Business Applications" (VLBA12) aims to bring together topics that reflect the current trend in the rapidly changing development of VLBA and, in particular, address emerging technologies. The workshop will bring together both theorists and practitioners to study, discuss and critically evaluate the future development and resulting potential of VLBA.
