Frequently asked questions
When can I start the certificate?
The certificate programme will start for the first time in the winter semester 2025/2026, after which the certificate programme can be started every semester.
Who can apply?
Every student teacher in Lower Saxony from the 2nd bachelor's semester onwards can apply for the certificate programme. The number of participants is limited in each semester.
Who and how many are admitted to the certificate?
The number of participants is limited each semester. Immediately after the registration deadline, the participants for the respective semester are selected by lottery. The number of semesters or an early degree will be taken into account. Persons who are not selected in the lottery procedure are placed on a waiting list and may move up or reapply in the following semester.
When will I receive re-registration as to whether I have been admitted to the certificate?
After the application deadline, all those who have completed an application form will receive re-registering students so that they can plan their semester in good time.
I was not accepted. Can I move up or apply again?
Yes, people who were not selected in the lottery procedure will be placed on a waiting list and may move up.
Yes, people who were not selected in the lottery procedure can reapply in the following semester.
Can (teaching) courses that I have already attended be recognised?
Recognition is only possible under certain conditions. Please contact Carina Branković or Friederike Henjes with the relevant evidence to check the individual possibilities.
I only want to attend the basic module, can I get a certificate for this?
No, the certificate certifies that all modules have been completed. If necessary, (teaching) events and/or internships can be credited. Please contact Carina Branković or Friederike Henjes with the relevant certificates to check the individual possibilities.
I am not studying to become a teacher, but would still like to complete the certificate. Is that possible?
No, the certificate is aimed at student teachers.
Can I continue to study the certificate I started in the Bachelor's programme in the Master's programme?
Yes, the Bachelor's degree has no influence on the certificate. The certificate can also be continued in the Master's programme.
Can I also start the certificate in the Master's programme?
Yes, provided there is still enough time to complete the certificate. The standard period of study is approximately two to three semesters.
Can I attend all courses in one semester?
No, the certificate has a consecutive structure. The foundation module must be completed first before the other modules can be attended. This results in a standard period of study of two to three semesters.
What can a project look like as part of the module "Practical Fields of Education Critical of Anti-Semitism"?
Certificate students are free to choose the content and form of their project. It is important to ensure that the project is focussed on an issue that is related to education critical of anti-Semitism.
What does the examination performance look like?
ZABIN provides for a final presentation and a final discussion with the coordination team, neither of which is marked. The form and focus of the final presentation can be set individually. The final discussion is based on a thesis paper and lasts approx. 20 minutes.
The dates for the presentation and the interview are arranged individually with the graduates.
