An evening lecture on 13 November will compare the German and American university systems. 14 November is dedicated to the ideas and reforms concerning the university that were developed in the 19th century. An outline of the university debate as reported in the *Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung* in 1931 will be followed by a panel discussion. The event will conclude with the presentation of the new edition of Karl Jaspers’ *Schriften zur Universitätsidee*.
