Adaptation course for international teachers

You already have studied to become a teacher in your home country. For working as a teacher in Lower Saxony, you have to take part in the Adaptation Course to study the needed content. 

1. Completed Teacher Training

You have completed a teacher training outside of Germany and you want to become a teacher in Germany. 

Thereby you fulfill the first requirement to apply for an Adaptation course.

2. Application at the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches Kulturministerium)

Your application does depend on whether your degree is from an EU country (including Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland) or whether you finished your degree outside the EU.

3. Be aware of the application deadline

Application deadline for the winter semester 15th of July
Application deadline for the summer semester 15th of January

4. Application for the admission to the Adaptation Course

Please use the application form found at "Further Information" to apply for the Adaptation Course.

5. Acceptance

The admission decisions for bachelor´s degree courses are made by the Admissions Office and takes about three weeks. These three weeks start with the reception of the application documents by the Admissions Office

Admission decisions are send by email as soon as the Admissions Office is informed about the decisions.

6. Enrolment

After you have been accepted, you need to enrol in person at the Admissions Office. You need to bring original or certified hard copies of your degrees and language certificates. You will find further information on that in your admission letter.
