The Society of Friends and Patrons of Friedrich Schiller University Jena has awarded Dr Nicolai ter Horst the prize for an outstanding doctoral thesis. The prize is worth €750 and was presented on 26 July.
Dr Nicolai ter Horst completed his doctoral thesis on digitally differentiated learning modules as part of the Chemistry Didactics Research Group at Friedrich Schiller University Jena under the supervision of Prof. Dr Timm Wilke. The thesis explores the possibilities of digital learning in the extracurricular setting of a student laboratory, with particular attention to the participants’ varying learning prerequisites. It received €15,000 in funding from the Joachim Herz Foundation as part of the ‘digitalchemlab – digital and differentiated in the student laboratory’ project. Prior to this, he had already been awarded the 2024 LeLa Prize by the Federal Association of Student Laboratories in the ‘Digital Student Laboratory’ category. Congratulations!
