Graduation ceremonies on 15 Jan. 2010
There was a large crowd at the graduation ceremony for the new Master of Education degree programmes. A total of over 130 graduates from the University of Oldenburg's teaching degree programmes received their certificates in the Audimax on Friday. Due to the large number of participants, the Didactic Centre (DiZ) of the University of Oldenburg had to organise two ceremonies. In the first ceremony, 38 primary and secondary school teachers and 63 secondary school teachers received their master's degree certificates. This was followed by 36 grammar school teaching graduates and 17 special education graduates receiving their certificates. Prof Dr Dietmar von Reeken, Director of the DiZ, congratulated all graduates, and Prof Dr Matthias Wickleder, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, gave the welcoming address. Mr Wickleder expressed his open insight into the need for reform of the new Bachelor's/Master's system and hoped that the graduates would carry the positive aspects into the next educational pathway. Ideally, teachers should act as multipliers for the degree programme in Oldenburg. The jazz ensemble of the University of Oldenburg under the direction of Bernhard Mergner and the soul group "The Groove Department" provided the musical programme.
