Farewell/graduation ceremony for old teaching qualifications

72 graduates of teaching degrees at primary schools, secondary schools, secondary modern schools and grammar schools were bid farewell at a ceremony at Oldenburg University on 23 January 2009. The event was organised by the Didactic Centre (diz), the student body for teaching degrees and the Lower Saxony State Office for Teacher Training and School Development (NiLS).

The majority of students from the old teaching degree programmes were bid farewell at the ceremony. The future teachers were treated to a varied programme of cabaret and music in the university's Audimax. After words of welcome from diz Director Prof Dr Dietmar von Reeken, the two graduates Shen Yinping and Edith Langheim also had their say: "Yes, we can" was their motto for the examination phase.

Dietmar von Reeken and Hilbert Meyer presented the graduation certificates, and the Deans of Studies of the School honoured particularly outstanding theses. The following were honoured:

Sandra Schnieders (School II - School of Computing Science, Economics and Law),
Annika Kurwinkel, Felix Altdörfer, Ilka Jacobs-Sandstede (School III - School of Linguistics and Cultural Sciences), Imke-Silja Hintze, Vivien Stevens, Constantin Rieske (School IV - School of Humanities and Social Sciences) and
Eva Pahl and Katja Rieß (School V - School of Mathematics and Science).
