On 25 June 2021, the University of Oldenburg held its first virtual graduation ceremony for 128 graduates of the Master of Education degree programme.

The future teachers for primary, secondary and intermediate schools, grammar schools, special schools and vocational schools were honoured in a virtual ceremony by the Centre for Teacher Education - Didactic Centre and the Examinations Office. Accompanied by families, children and friends, the ceremony was broadcast to the graduates' living rooms, study rooms and terraces.

Prof. Dr Verena Pietzner, Vice President for Studies, Teaching and International Affairs, and Prof. Dr Dr Joachim Willems, Vice Director for Teaching at the DiZ, gave welcoming speeches. Pianist Josef Barnickel provided the musical framework for the ceremony. Slam poet Annika Blanke impressed the audience with an eloquent contribution from the everyday life of a teacher. Nathalie Brand, Aileen Weichert, Miriam Franziska Sandmann, Jessica Schütz and Lukas Matthias Kösters spoke a few personal words to their fellow students.
