In 2020, the Presidential Board of the University of Oldenburg established an in-house Research Training Group entitled “Teacher Education 2040 – Dimensions of Teacher Professionalisation from an Interdisciplinary Perspective – Challenges, Models, Methods’, comprising nine PhD positions, as part of the newly established Research Academy at the Centre for Teacher Education – Didactic Centre.

The aim is to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between subject-specific didactics, educational sciences and the specialised subject disciplines in research relating to teacher education. The research group’s topic is broadly defined in order to facilitate links with existing potential and the creation of new synergies.

In 2020, teams of university lecturers from at least two fields (subject didactics, educational science, specialised disciplines) were able to submit proposals to the Presidential Board for the corresponding PhD positions. A selection was made from the proposals received with the involvement of external reviewers.

A comprehensive joint training programme is a particular hallmark of the Research Training Group.
